Flying Fees

Gliding Wairarapa offers some of the best rates for glider flights in New Zealand. Standard club rates are the rates that members of the Jury Hill Gliding Club pay for training and soaring flights, for both instruction and solo flying.

Standard Club Rates

Winch Launch	NZ$ 13.00 / launch
Glider Hire	NZ$ 30.00 / hr ($0.50 / min)
Students*	NZ$ 12.50 / flight (flat rate for whole flight)
Instruction	No Additional Charge

* Students are primary and secondary school students only.

Trial Flights

Anyone can come to the airfield and take a flight after you have completed some paper work and registered as a trial flight member of the club. Trial flights are a lot of fun, and an amazing experience that you will never forget. Your trial flight includes a six month trial membership. That means that for six months after your trial flight you can fly at the Standard Club Rates! At the end of that time you can opt to become a full member by paying an annual subscription.

Aerotow

We only operate aerotow launches by arrangement, and part of this arrangement will be the aerotow charge. The launch charge for aerotow is based on the per minute flight time of the tow plane, including the time taken for the tow plane to return to the airfield after the glider has released.

Aerotow launches are significantly more expensive than winch launching.
